COLOR OVERRIDES – OVERVIEW
Easily change object and Outliner colors with Color Overrides.
Maya supports custom wireframe colors and Outliner Window name colors too, but unfortunately the custom settings are buried deep inside the interface and are difficult to use.
Setting colors for multiple objects/Outliner names is difficult and time consuming.
Color Overrides allows you to intuitively color wireframes and Outliner names in Maya.
Change multiple objects at once, filter by object type.
Use palettes or a color picker to change colors.
Offset the hue, saturation, or value of most object wires and offset the color of names in the Outliner window.
Other functions include Get Color From Object, Select Similar and Select With Color.
Please note that this tool commonly colors Rig Control Curves, and is found under the Control and Joints menus, however it can be used for other object types too.
