Skinning Fundamentals (2/2) 2017

Maya: Skinning/Deformation

In This Class You’ll Access…
This Skinning Class (2/2) finishes the fundamentals of skinning in Maya. This page will free up your skinning workflows with tips and insights into Maya’s tool set and free community tools.

Topics covered here include mirroring, transferring skin weights between meshes, changing mesh topologies after skinning and other great tips like locking skin weights and vertex masking.

You’ll learn plugins that allow you to smooth skin weights intuitively unlike Maya’s in built tools. And understand details like pre and post skinning and how you can switch modes and why.

Advanced tools will be left for another page including the the instant skinning methods like heat mapping and geodesic binding the delta mush deformer and the NG SKin Tools.

These tools are great to know too, but most of the work of skinning is here in these fundamental lessons.

So finish learning the fundamentals of skinning here on this the second part of this class.

NOTE: Many videos in this class have been made in Maya 2016, but all workflows and tools remain the same in 2017.
