Croc Rig
Maya: Rigging, Rig Demos
Croc is a character is based off an artwork by James Castillo a super talented character designer, please check out his facebook page !! Croc’s a Maya 2017+ animation rig that comes with bonus assets like animation scenes and Renderman, Arnold and Redshift scenes, shaders and light setups. Full tutorials show how the tools can help you animate with speed and efficiency.
Almost all of these workflows will work with all of our characters and rigs made with Zoo Tools Pro 1. Many of the tools aren’t restricted to our rigs either. Feel free to use these scripts on your community and personal rigs too.
You can animate Croc for any non-commercial project, student show reels, and short films.
We will upgrade Croc shortly for Zoo Tools 2 when our new auto-rigger Hive comes out.

What courses should I see to fully understand and so I can create one rig like this? and if there is an order? thank you =)
Hi Jaime, the courses to watch are
https://create3dcharacters.com/maya-zootools-biped-proxy-2017/ (croc is just this biped with a fk tail)
To add the extra controls you just need a good understanding of FK rigging, which is the simplest type of rigging, pretty much everything on the rig except the necklace is then just a fk control. In Zoo Tools 1 we call them custom controls.
So watch these pages for control basics, these go through the fundamentals but you build with scripts (CCtrl in the C3dC Shelf)
https://create3dcharacters.com/maya-rig-joint-orientation/
https://create3dcharacters.com/maya-shape-parent-curve-controls/
Then to see how to parent them to the Zoo biped rig see.

We are upgrading our rigging system at the moment for Zoo 2. It is completely new, hence there’s been a delay on the actual croc rig page because it’s changing completely for the better.
Thanks! =D
This is really great work Andrew!
Any idea of when the new Zoo Tools will be out? 🙂
Cheers Mans! We will have something to show at the end of the month. So early Feb. It’s going to be a long release, the first version will be in Alpha and missing a lot of features, both rig features and other UIs like the image browsers, but it should give you a good sense of where we are going, especially with the new rigging system!
Wow, can’t wait, thank you!
Hi Andrew, I did exactly the same way you show in the video that I put the croc fold in my animlibrary. I dont know why it won’t show up in my zoo plugin. I’m waiting for the zoo 2. is there something would be different? I wish I can solve this issue soon. thx
Hi Hongyu, just checking, did you follow the instructions in the notes on vid 2.1 and put the clips in the new location? Do not follow the video anymore. See the notes on 2.1.
C:\Users\YourUsername\Documents\zooPrefs\animLibrary\clips (croc folder here)
Or equivalent on your os?
If so, can you let me know what OS you are using, Windows/OSX? And what version of Maya. This should be fine. Let me know how you go.
I am using maya 2019,
Pose library not showing anything.
I did put presets folder into maya 2019.
My maya not opening now, i deleted the pref folder and it worked.
but again i reinstalled the c3d prefs. It again hangs at startup screen and nothing happens.
Is Clip library working with the latest ZooTools 2 version?
hi ! can I replace Croc to my custom model? is it the tool just for Croc?
