This page covers the setup of the Drag and Drop Facial Rig. This facial rig has been designed for human like eyes and mouth setup, though it can be used on a variety of characters from cartoony to realistic.
There’s two components to this rig.

1. The Skin Slide Eye Rig (6 Joint Variation)
2. The Triple Jaw (with Nose)

Each uses a very simple pivot based system which can fit any scaled mesh. Don’t scale the rigs though, they should be scaled by adjusting/scaling the vertices on the controls themselves (see the videos). Import them into your rig and the simple setups are surprisingly robust, easy to create and animate.

1. 2. The Eye Rig (40 mins)

The Eye Rig is based off a simple premise, a 6 joint system (3 top and 3 bottom) with pivots at the eye centre. The rig features two methods of rotating from the pivots which are additively added together.

1. Lid Slide
2. Blinks/Offsets

The eyes can follow an aim control or rotate locally to the head or in world.

Drag and drop the rig into your scene, setup the pivots and hide the placer control. Adjust the settings and skin as desired. This rig also comes ready for correctives which are the additive result of the follows and blinks combined.

2. 3. The Jaw Rig (19 mins)

The Jaw Rig is based off the simple three joint jaw setup with an additional joint for the nose. Each joint can be rotated/translated giving us a large variety of mouth/chin combinations with a simple control.

4. Chin

Drag and drop the rig into your scene, setup the pivots and hide the placer control. Adjust the settings and skin as desired.
